{"id":4144,"date":"2012-12-12T18:09:47","date_gmt":"2012-12-12T16:09:47","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.institut-biotherapies.fr\/?page_id=4144"},"modified":"2026-08-07T15:50:20","modified_gmt":"2026-08-07T13:50:20","slug":"afm-telethon","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.institut-biotherapies.fr\/en\/about-us\/afm-telethon\/","title":{"rendered":"AFM-Telethon"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>An association of patients and their families, since its creation in 1958, the AFM-Telethon has the same objective: overcome the inevitable and cure rare genetic diseases that have long been neglected and ignored by all.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.institut-biotherapies.fr\/en\/about-us\/afm-telethon\/insitut_biotherapies_telethon_leo_420x280-2\/\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-3803\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft wp-image-3803\" title=\"insitut_biotherapies_telethon_leo_420x280\" src=\"https:\/\/www.institut-biotherapies.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/09\/insitut_biotherapies_telethon_leo_420x280-325x216.jpg\" alt=\"AFM-T\u00e9l\u00e9thon\" width=\"250\" height=\"166\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"isSelectedEnd\">Thanks to the extraordinary popular support of the Telethon for nearly 40 years and driven by the sole interest of patients, the AFM-Telethon has become a major player for the research and development of innovative therapies for rare diseases, thus contributing to the emergence of a genuine medical revolution benefiting as many people as possible.<\/p>\n<p class=\"isSelectedEnd\">Today, the AFM-Telethon supports 40 clinical trials involving 33 different diseases (rare diseases of the skin, muscle, eyesight, blood, liver, myocardial infarction, etc.), including 25 in gene therapy, 4 in cell therapy and 14 in pharmacology.<\/p>\n<p class=\"isSelectedEnd\">The association grouped three laboratories that are leaders in the fields of gene therapy and cell therapy (Genethon, Institute of Myology, I-Stem) into the Biotherapies Institute, which brings together more than 600 experts from research and development.<\/p>\n<p>Through its Genethon laboratory, it also co-founded YposKesi, an industrial platform entirely dedicated to the production of gene therapy medicines and a European leader in the pharmaceutical production (GMP) of viral vectors.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>An association of patients and their families, since its creation in 1958, the AFM-Telethon has the same objective: overcome the inevitable and cure rare genetic diseases that have long been neglected and ignored by all.
